Our Inspiration
Every day, countless extraordinary horses are pushed to their limits on the racetrack, polo fields, and in arenas across all equestrian disciplines. These are the horses that once soared to greatness—racing to victory, jumping to glory, and carrying the hopes of their riders and fans. You cheered them on, these magnificent athletes who gave their all in every stride.
But in the blink of an eye, their world changes. Injured, either physically or emotionally, these once-celebrated champions are suddenly seen as broken, no longer the stars they once were. The horses behind legends like Secretariat, Seabiscuit, Pharlap, and Dreamer—the very heart of those stories—find themselves cast aside, now considered burdens instead of heroes.
They’ve given everything, only to face a future of uncertainty, with no place to go and no one to care for them. These top athletes, once adored and cherished, deserve more than to fade away into oblivion.
They deserve a second chance.
Most equine athletes rarely find their way to retire in a green pasture.
For far too many equine athletes, a peaceful retirement in a green pasture is a dream they never realize. Instead, their lives often end in the cold, brutal reality of a slaughterhouse.
Even champions aren’t spared this fate. Ferdinand, a legendary racehorse who triumphed in the 1986 Triple Crown races, met his tragic end not in a field of honor, but in a slaughterhouse. Exceller, another iconic racehorse, shared a similar grim fate. These famous names, along with countless unknown and forgotten horses, once gave their hearts to the sport they loved—only to be cast aside when they were no longer useful.
Their stories break our hearts, and they are the very reason we fight. These horses, who were once champions, who once soared to greatness, deserve more.
They are our inspiration, and we are driven to make a difference, to ensure that no horse in need is forgotten or abandoned.
